Confederation is holding a Rally

Confederation is holding a Rally

New Delhi: Struggle for parity among all sections of the country is not only in the interest of a particular community or caste but nation as whole. Schedule castes and schedule tribes constitute 1/4th of country’s population and their further marginalization due to globalization and liberalization will not just hit them but it will create bipolar society. This is the 17th rally of the Confederation. Its workers and leaders meet in Delhi and discuss not only for their advantage but also plan how to improve functioning of government departments. Normally trade unions and welfare associations in the different departments articulate their own demands but of the organization to which they belong.

Why the Confederation’s approach is different?

It is different because of its leader Dr. Udit Raj who himself was a responsible bureaucrat. Since the regime has changed at the centre, so this year the workers and leaders of Confederation will be reoriented for the new and very important program like Bharat Swachh Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana.

The SCs/STs form about 1/5th of government machinery. And if this is sensitized towards this innovative program, will certainly change the working culture in the government.

The SC/ST Confederation is purely a non political organization and yet it can’t be intact from the changes which are undertaking. We have been slogging on many fronts and change in the mind set of government machinery and bring about a new working culture. These participants are equally concerned that what will happen to SCs/STs in the days to come. They are very enthusiastic in coping some other programs and plans of government and leadership given by Shri Narendra Modi.

They are hoping that outstanding demands like enactment of Reservation Act, promotion and reservation, strengthening of Prevention of Atrocities Act 1989, ban of contract system will be heard. The rally to be held on 8th December, 2014, will definitely sensitize the government to heed the demands of Confederation
