This was stated here today by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh during his visit to the Jasola Working Women’s Hostel near Sarita Vihar/Apollo Hospital Metro Station, which has been set up by Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER) in collaboration with Ministry of Women & Child Development. The hostel is specifically meant for working women from North Eastern Region although working women from other parts of the country are also offered accommodation depending upon vacancy. This is one of the few residential hostels of its kind in Delhi which is meant exclusively for working women.
Dr Jitendra Singh, accompanied by Secretary (DoNER) Shri Vijay Kumar, Joint Secretary Shri V.B.Pathak and caretakers of the hostel, went around the premises and interacted with the inmates, who were extremely thrilled and enthusiastic at the rare opportunity to have the Union Minister visiting their hostel to inquire about them. He visited each and every block of the premises including the dining hall, common room and the residential blocks.

Dr Jitendra Singh issued on-the-spot instructions to increase the number of “single occupancy” living rooms and provide air conditioned facility wherever demanded by the inmates. He also noticed that in certain portions of the building wifi internet facility was not up to the mark and issued instructions for installation of signal boosters.

To make the place more secure and to ensure free movement of working women even at late night hours, Dr Jitendra Singh directed the officials of the Ministry to take up with civic/electrical authorities the issue of maintaining uninterrupted power supply to the streetlights on the road linking the premises to the nearby metro station. He also directed that an in-house transport facility by way of a van or mini-bus may be arranged for the inmates to travel to and from the metro station.

During informal interaction with the inmates, some of the working women came out with suggestions like setting up a badminton court in the premises and a small auditorium to conduct socializing and cultural activities. Dr Jitendra Singh said these are some of the long term plans for which the Ministry will soon prepare a draft paper.

Presence of hydroxyl and water molecules on the Moon http://delhinewsagency.com/presence-of-hydroxyl-and-water-molecules-on-the-moon/ http://delhinewsagency.com/presence-of-hydroxyl-and-water-molecules-on-the-moon/#comments Wed, 22 Apr 2015 12:41:55 +0000 http://delhinewsagency.com/?p=3729 New Delhi :-NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft launched in June 2009 has detected the spectral signature of hydroxyl, a key indicator that water ice is present in the floor of the crater. The data from the LRO has also indicated that hydrogen bearing molecule deposits may be slightly more abundant on crater slopes in the southern hemisphere that face the lunar South Pole. Data from the Moon Mineralogy Mapper onboard India’s Chandrayaan-1, launched on October 22, 2008 has indicated the presence of hydroxyl and water molecules on the lunar surface. Further, Mini-Synthetic Aperture Radar (Mini-SAR) instrument of Chandrayaan-1 has indicated existence of sub surface water-ice deposits in the base of the craters of permanent sun shadow region. A mass spectrometer based experiment on the Indian Moon Impact Probe (MIP) of Chandrayaan-1 also indicated presence of water molecules in the lunar exosphere.
It is concluded from the above results that hydroxyl and water molecules are present on the Moon. The molecules may be more prevalent beneath the lunar surface.
Dr Jitendra Singh in written reply to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha today.

25 lakh donated for flood relief in Jammu & Kashmir http://delhinewsagency.com/25-lakh-donated-for-flood-relief-in-jammu-kashmir/ http://delhinewsagency.com/25-lakh-donated-for-flood-relief-in-jammu-kashmir/#comments Mon, 30 Mar 2015 06:03:20 +0000 http://delhinewsagency.com/?p=3033 New Delhi :-Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh  has received Rs.25 lakh cheque form Price waterhouse Coopers (PwC) Pvt. Ltd., a reputed organization with a network in 157 countries, towards flood relief work in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. A letter pledging transfer of this amount by real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund was formally handed over here today to Dr. Jitendra Singh by the Vice Chairman of PwC India Foundation, Shri Jaivir Singh. Welcoming the gesture, Dr Jitendra Singh said, even though the Narendra Modi government has been very liberal in extending all kind of financial and logistic help for flood relief in J&K and the Prime Minister himself was among the first to personally visit the Valley following the floods, there is still a lot more to be done and therefore, help from all quarters for this noble cause is always appreciable. Dr. Jitendra Singh said, he was particularly pleased to know that while he had himself, with the help of an NGO, adopted the flood ravaged village of Saddal in Udhampur to be developed as “smart village”, another well known NGO “SEEDS” had undertaken the task of rebuilding a primary school in Pulwama which had been damaged by floods. He further elaborated that while reconstruction of Pulwama school is expected to be complete by the end of 2015, in Saddal nearly 40 hutments had already been allotted to locals and the whole project is likely to be completed by mid-2016.
Ensuring Dr. Jitendra Singh of further help in such humanitarian tasks, Vice Chairman of PwC India Foundation, Shri Jaivir Singh said that their organization was among the first to send relief supplies to the flood affected regions of J&K just a few days within the disaster. In addition, he informed that the PwC India Foundation is in the process of garnering substantive help for more support, specifically for the people of J&K.
